Overview of Research Activities on Seismic Performance of Structural Systems at UC-Berkeley
Location : Engineering Roof
Date : April 13, 2005
Time : 15:00-16:30
Short Biography
Khalid M. Mosalam obtained his BS (Civil) and MS (Structures) both with honors from Faculty of Engineering,
Cairo University in 1988 and 1991, respectively. He obtained his PhD (Major: Structures, Minor: Theoretical
and Applied Mechanics) from Cornell University in 1996. After graduation, he worked as a lecturer at Cornell for
one year teaching courses in FEA, structural analysis, and RC design. He joined the Structural Engineering, Mechanics,
and Materials group of UCB in 1997 as Assistant Professor and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2003. Mosalam
teaches courses related to structural analysis and behavior and design of reinforced and prestressed concrete structures. He conducts research in several topics related to the seismic performance of structural systems as demonstrated in the first part of the seminar. Mosalam was a Visiting Professor of Kyoto University from August to December of 2004. Starting January 2005, Mosalam is a Visiting Professor at METU, Ankara.
