ADMISSION TO GRADUATE PROGRAMS Students holding Bachelor's degrees are eligible to apply for Master's programs and those holding Master's degrees are eligible to apply for doctoral programs to the Institutes of Bogazici University. A. Admission to Master's Programs: Minimum requirements for application (i) A grade point average of 2.50/4.00 or its equivalent during undergraduate study. (ii) All applicants are required to take the Bogazici University Proficiency Test or the other international proficiency tests cited below and an examination in their own subjects. Exams (i) English Proficiency Tests: · BUEPT (Bogazici University English Proficiency Test): Minimum Score of 60. This test is administered by the Bogazici University School of Foreign Language several times a year. BUEPT scores are valid for two years. For more information on BUEPT, please refer to http://www.yadyok.boun.edu.tr/ · TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language): Minimum Scores of (a) 550 + TWE 4.5 (paper-based) (b) 213 + TWE 4.5 (computer-based) (c) 79 + TWE 24 (internet-based). This test is given several times a year in many countries by the American Educational Testing Service and is valid for two years. A Test of Written English (TWE) is also given by YADYOK on the same day as the BUEPT. YADYOK TWE Pass is equivalent to TOEFL TWE scores indicated above. · IELTS (The English Language Testing System): Minimum Score of 7. This test is given by the British Council and is valid for two years. (ii) Minimum ALES Quantitative Score of 70 or GRE Quantitative Score of 685 (153). B. Admission to the Ph.D. Programs: Minimum requirements for application (i) A grade point average of 3.00/4.00 or its equivalent in the Master's program. Admission to the School of Foreign Languages for Graduate Students: (i) Students holding BA (BS), MA (MS) degrees and applying to the Bogazici University graduate programs at the beginning of the academic year are eligible to study English Language for one year at the Bogazici University School of Foreign Languages prior to starting the graduate program they have been admitted to. These students can continue their graduate education upon successful completion of their English preparatory year. (ii) Students applying to the graduate programs in the second semester can take the exam in their own field given by the institutes they have applied to only if they have obtained the required scores on the Bogazici University English Proficiency Test or one of the international tests cited above. Students applying for admission to graduate programs for the second semester of the academic year will not be admitted to the School of Foreign Languages. D. Documents Required for Application: (i) Official transcripts sent directly to the Bogazici University Registrar's Office from the university the student has graduated from. The document should indicate all the courses taken and the grades received throughout the applicant's undergraduate or Master's education. (ii) Two reference letters from persons familiar with the applicant's academic standing. (iii) Graduates of Turkish Universities need to submit an official statement that they have a satisfactory disciplinary record. (iv) A copy of the original diploma.
