Hojjat Adeli
Hojjat Adeli is Professor in the Departments of Biomedical Informatics,
Civil and Environmental Engineering and Geodetic Science, Electrical
and Computer Engineering, and Neuroscience and the Center for
Biomedical Engineering at The Ohio State University. He is the Founder and
Editor-in-Chief of two research journals: Integrated Computer-Aided Engineering,
now in 12th year of publication and Computer-Aided Civil and Infrastructure
Engineering, now in 19th year of publication. He has authored over 400
research publications since 1976 when he received his Ph.D. from Stanford University
at the age of 26. He has authored nine books such as Machine Learning
- Neural Networks, Genetic Algorithms, and Fuzzy Systems, Wiley, 1995,
Neurocomputing for Design Automation, CRC Press, 1998, Distributed
Computer-Aided Engineering, CRC Press, 1999, and Control, Optimization,
and Smart Structures, Wiley, 1999. He has been a Keynote/Plenary Lecturer
at 51 research conferences held in 32 different countries. He is the recipient
of numerous awards and honors including The Ohio State University 1998 Distinguished
Scholar Award “in recognition of extraordinary accomplishment in research
and scholarship”. He holds a United States patent for an algorithm
for robust optimization of engineering systems.

He
has 1959 ITU Master of Sciences Graduate Degree. Following his graduation
from ITU worked as a researcher and design engineer in Sweden, France
and USA for log years. He got Ph. D. Degree from Sorbonne Univesity
Science Faculty in 1965 during his professional life in Paris.
In addition to those he has published in Turkish, he has published
160 papers, technical reports, meeting reports as author or co-author,
8 of them being books.
